Artist statement

​

I am a visual artist exploring the moment when people connect on an emotional level. I capture this moment in paired portraits with saturated colours and strong contrast with mixed media on paper.

My work captures the feeling that is rarely addressed because more often we are driven by thoughts, believes, expectations and ego. I’m interested in the real connection between people that happens when we are present in the moment. Drawing and paintings makes me more aware of the beauty of this real connection. 

I believe we need leaders who can connect on this level. Who are able to see when we are driven by ego and choose not to. Leaders who sincerely desire to connect with others, with themselves and nature. 

On a personal level I struggle with this every day. It is my deepest desire to connect with others and at the same time my deepest fear. Thought, expectations and believes come into play immediately and keep me away from the present moment. My art helps me to revisit these moments.
